Born to Canadian parents of Caribbean descent, Aisha Evelyna is a Toronto-based actor and filmmaker passionate about bringing stories of the underrepresented to the forefront of our social consciousness.
Aisha’s debut feature film SEAHORSE will have its world premier at the 2026 SXSW film festival, in the narrative feature competition. Aisha wrote directed and starred opposite Joseph Marcell, most notably known for playing Geoffrey Butler in the NBC sitcom THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR. Upon completion, Aisha will be the first Black Canadian woman to write direct and star in a Canadian feature film.
In scripted series, Aisha co-created, wrote, directed, and starred in (alongside Dani Pagliarello) the comedy series THE DROP, which is now available worldwide on TUBI.
Aisha won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance in a Web Program or Series for her work on comedy series THE DROP, as well as a nomination for Best Direction. THE DROP led the digital category with five nominations. The Canadian Screen Awards mark the highest level of achievement in the Canadian Film & TV industry.
In 2023 Aisha was named a ‘Screenwriter to Watch’ by the Austin Film Festival presented by MovieMaker Magazine. Her short film ALEX (2022) which she wrote, directed, and starred in premiered at HollyShorts and was an Official Selection at the Austin Film Festival. ALEX was named a ‘Vimeo Staff Pick’ upon its digital release in 2023.
As an actor, recent film and TV appearances include REALLY HAPPY SOMEDAY (TIFF ‘24), and the highly anticipated SLO PITCH (Crave Canada/Page Boy Productions).
Aisha is an alum of the 2022 WBD Access X Canadian Academy Writers Program, where she is developed the limited series SALLY,DARLING with Warner Brothers Canada.
Aisha has most recently premiered the short film MOTHBALLS at the 2025 Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, and has also released the works ACCIDENTALS (2017) and SHOEGAZER (2022, 554K views on Omeleto) which have screened internationally and received critical acclaim.
